Associate Membership was created for businesses that offer discounted goods and/or services as well as value added items that benefit or enhance employee programs.  These discounts or value adds are offered to the RARES General Membership.  For a small annual fee and a discount that you set to drive business, Associate Members can promote their products or services to our more than 135,000 General Members through this web site, a monthly newsletter, and special events such as our annual Vendor Fairs (one in the Spring and a second, smaller one in the Fall).  The RARES web site averages over 42,000 distinct users 1.7+ million hits monthly.

RARES offers you the following a-la-carte membership levels beginning with our preferred Profile Page membership level that will drive hundreds of interested discount seekers to your web page each month by virtue of our ongoing monthly prize giveaway program.  Please note that Associate member dues run from January - December of each year and are NOT pro-rated.

RARES ID card examples

95% of RARES members carry the free, heavy-stock, paper ID card.  A new card is issued each year with a new ID # and expiration date of December 31 of that year.  The present card, the front of which is shown below, expires 12/31/06 and is printed on heavy grey card stock with blue ink.  The reverse contains a standard 1--digit bar code for reading by most bar code systems.  You'll note the advertising of select RARES member companies on the front.  We offer the publishing of logos and phone numbers on a space available basis to our interested members.  Inquiries are sent out in August of each year along with pricing information.  Last year, the cost of placing your logo on this ID card (and on the reverse of the plasticine one below), was just $150.  Keep in mind that we distribute over 140,000 of these cards annually.

About 3,500 of our members pay a bit more to carry one of these lightweight plasticine cards.  These cards are good for a two year period and contain the company's name, ID #, and expiration date on the front.  The reverse also contains the logos of supporting RARES members and the 10-digit bar code for scanning purposes.  These cards are offered to our members for a one-time $10 set up fee and at our cost which is $0.30 per card.  Because of the cost, the companies that utilize these cards (currently about 15 companies) tend to be smaller in size.

 

Some of our members, such as those shown below from the companies Genencor and Lake Beverage develop a custom front for their  plasticine cards.  These cards are also good for a two-year time frame.  The "reverse" is the red plasticine front that you see above so again they are readily identifiable as RARES members.

 

 

In 2004, RARES also entered into a partnership with the Iroquois Healthcare Association in Albany to provide many of the employee benefits that comprise that organization's Employee Services Program (ESP).  Iroquois presently enrolls about 25,000 employees from over 25 hospitals and nursing home facilities in eastern New York (Syracuse eastward) in their ESP program and all of those individuals are also eligible to take advantage of all RARES discounts.  Iroquois Healthcare distributes its own ID card but the # on the ID card is linked directly into the RARES member ID system and the reverse of the Iroquois card does carry the 10 digit RARES bar code and RARES lilac logo.  Renderings of the front and reverse of the Iroquois ESP card are shown below.
